Whether you’re picking up a hand plane for the very first time or looking to refine skills you’ve been developing for years, Patrick’s woodworking courses are designed to help you build confidence through practical experience.
Each course focuses on learning by doing.
Working in small groups, you’ll receive demonstrations, individual guidance and plenty of time at the bench to develop your skills at a comfortable pace. You’ll leave not only with a finished project, but with techniques and understanding you can continue using long after the course has finished.
Courses are held throughout the year at Bethany Studio in Biggar, with places kept intentionally limited to ensure everyone receives plenty of individual attention.
Patrick offers a growing programme of woodworking courses, each designed around different experience levels and interests.
Perfect if you’ve always wanted to try woodworking but don’t know where to start.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of working safely and confidently with hand tools while creating a project you’ll be proud to take home.
If you’ve already developed some basic woodworking skills, these longer courses allow you to explore traditional cabinetmaking techniques in greater depth.
Working on a larger project over several days, you’ll learn not just what to do, but why each technique matters.
Courses are intentionally kept small, usually with no more than eight participants.
This creates a relaxed atmosphere where there’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions, receive one-to-one guidance from Patrick, and learn at your own pace.
You’ll never feel rushed or left behind, and there is always time to discuss techniques, tools and ideas as the course progresses.
Courses take place at Bethany Studio, a dedicated teaching workshop in the heart of Biggar.
The studio has been designed to provide a calm, organised environment where students can focus fully on learning traditional woodworking skills.
High-quality hand tools are provided throughout your course, so there is no need to invest in expensive equipment before you begin.
Local cafés and lunch options are just a short walk away, or you’re welcome to bring your own lunch and make use of the studio kitchen facilities.
