Woodworking Tuition

Woodworking tuition with Patrick Baxter offers something a little different.

Rather than a fast-paced or highly structured classroom, the focus is on creating a calm, supportive environment where people can learn at their own pace.

Whether you are completely new to woodworking or looking to develop existing skills, tuition is shaped around the individual.

The Experience

This is a space to slow down.

To step away from screens and distractions, and focus on working with your hands.

The workshop is clean, organised, and intentionally calm: designed to support concentration and enjoyment of the process. Students come from a wide range of backgrounds, many returning regularly over months or years.

For some, it becomes a valued part of their routine.

What You Can Learn

Tuition covers a wide range of woodworking and furniture-making skills, including:

  • working with hand tools
  • understanding materials and grain
  • joinery techniques
  • building confidence in making

All teaching is adapted to suit your level and interests.

A Reassuring Approach

No experience is needed to begin.

You will be supported step by step, with guidance that matches your pace and ability.

The Studio

Teaching is based at Bethany Studio in Biggar, a dedicated teaching space with a focus on hand tools, traditional methods, and a quieter way of working.
